Fighting on Play-Off, Chiellini: Italy Must Ignore Criticism
Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini has asked Italy to ignore their criticism ahead of the 2018 World Cup qualifier against Macedonia. Gianpiero Ventura’s foster children host Macedonia at Stadio Olimpico on Saturday (7/10/2017).
“It will be a challenging game, Macedonia has a lot of quality players so it’s not easy,” said Chiellini, quoted by Football Italia.
“We have to stay focused throughout the game,” he said.
Italy has come under fire for a series of disappointing performances. With the result they found against Spain, Gli Azzurri needed a play-off to secure their ticket to the 2018 World Cup.
“Indeed, we have to isolate ourselves from critics, we will play the play-off with confidence and respect for our opponents,” said the 33-year-old.
